Frequently Asked Questions

We like to bring samples to show how your Sun Shade will operate and look like in your space. A representative will generally show you colors of fabrics, metals, and explain any applicable details. Once your representative gets measurements and you decide what you like, they are able to give you pricing on the spot.

Typically, the whole process lasts around 30 minutes.

Our Sun Shades are the industry standard for quality. We use thick gauge aluminum tracks and mounting brackets, weather resistant vinyl-coated polyester fabric, and durable epoxy metal coating. All of these elements mean your shade will look and perform like new for a long time.

When we do have an issue, it is usually under warranty. That said, we tend to see all parts at least double their warranties.

  • Metal and sliding plastic parts: Lifetime
  • Screen mesh: 5-10 year depending on the density
  • Motor: 5 year
  • Manual crank: 5 year
  • Chain pulley: 1 year

Fabrics come in a variety of densities, starting at 65% light-blocking and going to 97%, or even full blackout. When the sun is up, you will get great privacy from anything 90%+ dense. When your area is backlit and it is dark outside later in the evening, a 97% fabric will allow for neighbors to see some figures and shapes, but not more detail than that.

Our lead time varies throughout the season. We expect around a five-week lead time late in the spring and early summer. Mid summer through the fall is a three week lead time, and other parts of the year we can run as low as two weeks out.

Anything from 25′ span to 18′ drop can be covered by a single Sun Shade. Multiple can link together to cover larger spans.

Yes. We do zero interest, four month financing, collateralized by available credit on a credit card. Ask us about it when we come for a bid.

While it is a less common application, we do many installs over a garage door to create a screened-in workshop space. Using zipper side tracks, mounting the roll on the outside of the garage door opening, we are able to create that.

Both options work well. Retractables are generally preferred because they can roll up when you’re not using them, making your view unobstructed. That comes at a higher price point compared to the permanent option.

Permanent screen-ins work better than most might expect. We install these with tuff screen to resist pets and abrasions, so it lasts. However, the permanent solution comes at the cost of posts every 36-48″ across the span. Its the only way to make something that stands up to the wind.

The only way to stop glare completely is with blackout fabric. That being said, most people find a 95% fabric to do fine, and a 97% dense to do best without completely sacrificing outward visibility.

Motors and manual crank mechanisms come with the same 5-year warranty. After the years of installed shades under our belt, we’ve seen comparable durability between the two, replacing less than five total. All of which were still under warranty.

We replace fabrics for 25 year old shades, and they use the same motors we do now and have had no issues during their lifetime.
